Rules and format 2020

Here is all you need to know about the TFLOEG. (Rules and formats as of 2020)

Roster:

This is a SUPERFLEX league. This means there is one roster spot that can be a QB, TE, WR or RB.
Each team must roster the following each week: QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE, DP, and two flex spots that have these options: WR, RB, TE and the other QB, RB, WR, TE.

The bench size is 7 for a total of 16 players per roster.

Pocket player: Pocket player is player drafted at the end of the draft that has no impact on the first season they are on your roster. The purpose of this player is to lock someone down a year in advance of other managers. This pocket player has a keeper value of the 10th round if kept the next year. This player can not be started or traded until the current season has been concluded and must remain on the bench.

Keeper league: The current format is a 5 player keeper league with one of those players being a rookie.  If you choose to not keep a rookie then you will be keeping 4 players. These players are kept in the round they were drafted and that player misses out on the draft spot next year. For example if Lockett was drafted in the 10th round and was a keeper, that manager would not have a 10th round pick. When these players are kept for multiple years the round on where they are kept is also increased by 1 each year. So the first year Lockett is kept he would be a 10th, second year 9th, third year 8th, and so on.
ADDITION: If you plan on keeping two players at the same round you will be stacking them in the round above the actual round. For example, I want to keep Montgomery and Boyd in the 2nd round making the keeper rounds 2 and 3.
Keeper date: Each year during the managers meeting a day will be picked as to when you must finalize your keeper list and submit it to the commissioner. The keeper list needs to usually be submitted one week before the draft.

Waiver wire: If a player was on the waiver wire and was picked up to be a keeper the round value will start at the 8th round. This includes a player that was drafted and then released to the waiver wire.

Draft day:

Managers are expected to bring there own "Cheat sheets"  and prep materials to the draft day. Managers will take turns drafting their players and writing them on the board. Board and markets/stickers will be provided. Its important to come prepared and on time so the draft doesn't last all night. Its the most wonderful time of the year!

If someone can't make it to the draft please arrange a method of drafting, either over the phone or a proxy in order to cause less confusion on draft day. (Let the commissioner know as well)

The draft order will be based on how well you did the previous year with an exception to the last four teams. (Based on points scored not final position) The last four teams from the prior year will be put into a lottery for 1st overall  with odds in favor of the manager that finished dead last. The odds are 12th place 4/10, 11th place 3/10, 10th place 2/10, 9th place 1/10.

Managers Meeting:

A managers meeting will be held each year on July 1st to discuss the directions on the TFLOEG. This is not mandatory but is a great way to suggest rule changes and bring new ideas to the group. During this meeting we will take the best rules and vote on implementing them in future years. No rule is to silly to suggest please just have a reason as to why it would make the TFLOEG better. During this meeting we will also be nailing down a draft date. If you have a day that DOES NOT work for you to draft on please bring it up during this meeting.

Transactions:

In this league your team is YOUR team! At anytime before the trade deadline you can trade draft picks as well as roster players to better your team. If you decide to trade players remember that the roster size will not change so dropping a player to fit in the roster size limit may be your only option. When making the decision to trade draft picks remember that both managers will have to trade a draft pick in order to keep the roster size the same on draft day. For example, if I want to trade Lockett for a 2nd round pick I would also have to give a pick back so we draft the same amount of players on draft day. This trade would then be Lockett and a 13th for a 2nd round.

Trading between managers will be stopped at the NFL trade deadline and will resume at season's end. Free agent pickups will continue till season end.

When making transactions it is important to plan out your keepers. If I decide to keep Lockett in the 10th round I do not have a 10th round to trade away as it is used up by my keeper.

Currently we do not allow more then one year in advance for picks to be traded.

Once the season is over trading between managers can continue (After freezing at the trade deadline).

Once in a while trades may be vetoed by the commissioner. This happens when a trade between two managers is heavily skewed in one teams favor. Don't worry, players will be put back on their original teams and you can try a more even trade.

Conclusion:

The main thing about the TFLOEG is that we are here to have fun!! If there is a rule or something bothering you please don't hesitate to bring it up to your league mates or commissioner. Don't get frustrated when things don't go your way, remember there is always next year!
