Last Place Wisdom: Week Ten - The Master Plan (no this isn't a Nazi reference)
This has been a week full of emotions, where interested parties have been able to watch real life drama with intense fascination. Of course I'm not just speaking about the election, but also about the disagreement surrounding the recent Brother-in-law trade in the TFLOEG. I'm not going to go into too much discussion into either of them beyond this; my thoughts on the election should be pretty well known, I'm pleased with what occurred and the fact that Americans voted to potentially stop getting their faces stamped on by a boot is a good thing. I'm retiring the Depolorables moniker, and leaving the gloating to the following video (with an Arrested Development connection it was too good not to):
Before I get to what I really wanted to focus on, I have to apologize for not getting a Last Place Widsom out last week. I fully intended to, but then Friday evening came around and I realized I had forgotten all about it. This was especially unfortunate given that I ended up making a large trade earlier in the week.
I'm looking forward to the hearing the podcast's take on the recent goings on in the league, but last week and my loss to Clarke I decided I needed to make a move. My team has not lived up to expectations on the points side of things all year long, and a big reason for that was the play of DeAndre Hopkins. I did not like my chances going into the playoffs against Clarke or John, and DeAndre Hopkins had to move. This was a tough decision for me, as I think Hopkins' keeper value is one of the 5 best in the league still, but fantasy is all about having fun and that means trying to win when you can. Melvin Gordon helps me do that now. It stung a little bit, since it was a painful reminder that I could have kept Melvin Gordon following last season, but I couldn't be more excited to have him now. In deciding to drop him I went against my gut, not wanting to stay connected to the bad early round picks of a year ago, when I should have trusted my feelings on the player. The high price I had to pay to get him back (thanks John) was worth it, and ultimately the whole process is something that will affect how I think about fantasy football in general going forward.

Steve has put himself in a good position; as the only team that was really out of the playoff picture he's been able to sell off a number players to set himself up for next year. He drove a hard bargain for Gordon and Marshall, and in the event that he's able to trade Fitzgerald for something (looking at you, Shayne or Dawson), his rebuild should be well underway.
The Papa John's Pizza Positivity Party of the Week
It felt wrong to do an Emo song this week. I have plenty of reasons to feel positive, but not everybody does, and rather than wallow in negativity, I wanted to bring a different message this week. John brought it up on BBM a while back, but classic POD is really good. It came on during the Blue Jays playoff game I attended (really weird, since it felt entirely out of place next to the current hits that filled the rest of the soundtrack) but the wave of nostalgia and good feelings that accompanied it was truly satisfying. I've been jamming to it while walking the dogs the last week or so, and I wanted to share some of the love. For your listening pleasure and to hopefully pump you up, I take you back to 1999 and the first song that sent me down the "heavy" music rabbit hole that I have never fully recovered from.

As for the trade, while I personally think Mariota holds almost no value as a keeper, I can understand if Steve does and I'm not going to judge the trade too harshly. Martin might not get a chance to play again this year, so I'm not too worried about what it does for John, even though it could have huge dividends for him if Martin is back and healthy for the playoffs.HELLO DARKNESS MY OLD FRIEND. #NotMyPresident pic.twitter.com/WuXXhJGYZO— Paul Joseph Watson (@PrisonPlanet) November 9, 2016

On the Next Last Place Wisdom
- The positivity continues as God Emperor Trump prepares for his ascension
- The positivity ends as Melvin Gordon blows out his knee and Hopkins returns to form
- I realize I'm worrying for nothing and get the nickname "Whiskers"
