Last Place Wisdom: Last Minute Wisdom
After a couple of fairly political Last Place Wisdom's in a row, I'm going to refrain from talking about the US Election or any controversial topic. Maybe it's because I think you're all sick of hearing it, or maybe I just don't have the time required to go beyond the bare bones. My new job and new responsibilities has left me wondering where the week has gone, and as much as I'd like to give myself as much time to write as I'd like, if I want to stay on schedule I need to stay focused.
This past week has been a nightmare on the injury front, and it is now that the real skill and talent at managing fantasy teams will have a time to shine. I feel like I dodged a bullet in one sense, as guys I would have loved to draft or keep like Sexy Ameer Abdullah and Danny Woodhead have been the recipients of many of the worst injuries. There have really been no waiver wire pickups to really make a big impact so far, but I imagine that will be changing shortly.
I'm also feeling lucky in more way than one, because it is undeniable that there is a significant luck factor that has gone into my 2-0 start. As was brought up on the podcast this week, I'm the 9th highest scoring team, but I've also had the fewest amount of points scored against me. I imagine both of those to change, and I only hope my team can get it together before I start facing teams who run up the score on me.
I'm not feeling my fantasy team name, and I'll probably change it shortly, however I'm too nervous to upset my luck or piss off Harambe while I'm winning the way I am. As long as I keep winning, things stay the same, but that might not last too long.
And now to rapid fire:

And now to rapid fire:
- I feel bad for Steve, he's left so many points on his bench and I like his team so much. I predict him to get it together shortly, as there is too much talent to live with bad luck all season.
- It's been mentioned elsewhere, but I think Dawson is kind of following a similar script as last year with Forte playing the Devonta Freeman role. He's dominating early in the season, but itll be interesting to watch how long this can end up lasting for.
- John has been singing the praises of having the handcuff to your RB, and you think with having Peterson go down that he will have been proven correct, but I'm not so sure. There is a good chance that Matt Asiata is the higher scoring RB on the Vikings from here on out, and there's possibly an even better chance that both RBs end up sucking the rest of this year. John might feel better that he has a starting RB, but time will tell if it was a good draft choice. There are rare cases where handcuffs are important, but a lot of the time they're not as valuable as you might think.
- Since the season has started I've made 1 waiver wire pickup. If I was losing I would be freaking out, but right now I've really felt no strong desire to get anyone off of waivers. The guys I have found interesting were all taken with higher picks. Someone picked up on waivers is going to be a star
Mr. Manager of the Week Award
There were a couple of waiver wire pickups recently that I think will pay off in the long run; Curtis getting Quincy Enunwa and Mike getting Devante Parker. Enunwa is the type of guy nobody wants to pick up after a big week 1, but after 2 weeks under his belt, I think he's going to be a startable WR all season long. For Parker, it's just a matter of his talent. I think he was given up on too early, and Mike is going to be able to reap some rewards from him over the course of this season and possible further.
The Papa John's Pizza Emo Shoutout of the Week
A lot of teams have lost important players so far, but this week the shoutout goes out to Steve, who has both lost players and lost games to start the year. But really, this shoutout goes out to everyone who has had a rough week...Aaron, John, Travis, Mike; just remember that your fantasy team will spill their heart for you as long as you believe.
On the next Last Place Wisdom
- Keith doesn't leave his post until the last minute so he can come up with some better jokes.
