Last Place Wisdom: Long Live the Champ!

First of all, might as well get right down to business. Congratulations to Dawson on his first ever TFLOEG Championship, I'm looking forward to that Dawson Brown's jersey showing up in the near future. I also have to commend Dawson for doing my work for me and saving me from having to look up a wide selection of Phil Dawson pictures.

Just in case you couldn't be bothered to copy and paste the links Dawson supplied in the league page, here they are:

I just have to say that Dawson truly was the team of destiny this year, so much so that even starting Toby Gerhadt in the finals couldn't stop him, and actually was one of the better moves he could have made. That, combined with winning even though AJ Green got shut out just further pushes the point. It might not mean anything in the big picture, since all you need to do is win against the team you're playing each week, but it's nice for the champ to win unquestionably with the highest score of the week in championship game.

Dawson's MVP was definitely Le'Veon Bell, the top scoring RB for the season. His best value pick was definitely Fred Jackson, who provided extreme value as a solid RB all season long. Ryan Tannehill was his best sleeper, a QB who I thought might have a good season and is the guy I should have taken over Alex Smith.

Better luck next year to Stan, who was let down by Manning and Brady, and whose lack of WR depth ultimately proved to be his undoing. He should be fine once again next year, although with the window closing on Manning and/or Brady he might only have another season or two with his current core. Luckily unlike real sports, it doesn't take long to rebuild a roster with some decent drafting.

At this point, part of me wants to start looking ahead at who people are going to be keeping for next season, but a bigger part of me says that it's a long off season, and I'm ready to start Christmas break rather than delve further into fantasy football prognostication.

Merry Christmas everyone, now for the long break between Christmas and July when we can start thinking fantasy football again. Who knows, maybe there will be some special off season content to help pass the time.

  1. I realize that much like the infamous vehicle in Medicine Hat, I should change the sign from Dawson For Champ to Dawson is Champ, but at this point you will just have to live with the nonsensical saying.

  2. This had to be one of the most exciting fantasy seasons yet.
