Power Powell Rankings: Week 10 - Competition Submission
Week ten was by far the most competitive week of the season this far. Once you combine the pre-week smack talk, trade offer drama and every match up coming down to what happens in the Monday Night Game you'll see what I'm talking about.
As the commissioner sometimes it's a little tricky to remain neutral and, yet, supportive in the goings on between team owners. I'm not going to dwell on this fact for too long fellas, but let's start acting like friends and remember what fantasy football is. It's meant to be fun and a way to connect with one another, there's no real point (in my mind at least) to go out of our way and become cruel in the name of competitiveness. I appreciate the level of commitment you've all shown, but lets act like adults or it just makes it awkward for myself and others.
On to the usual report. Have you ever seen that Malibu commercial with the Jamaican fella dealing with "total grid lock, mon"? TFLOEG is starting to follow suit as there is a four way tie for the number one spot, teams tied at sixth and eighth spots as well. This season could go in any direction in my eyes and I don't feel completely safe at the top as I know that two bad weeks and I'm out of the playoffs. Juxtapose that to even Andrew or Mike having two great weeks and they can squeak into the mix. The first two winners in the TFLOEG were last place seeds in the standings going into the playoffs, so I wouldn't count anyone out yet. Well maybe Curt. But even Curt won this week, so.......
1. NFL OWNER (Last Week 1)- Shayne called his shot (albeit to lose) and guessed correctly. The thing to keep in mind is that he had some of his major team pieces on a bye, so I don't think the loss this week is enough to drop him from the top spot.
2.The Keith-glorious Basterds (Last Week 3)- Andrew Luck is still on fire and is showing no signs of slowing down. Until the other shoe drops (which seems unlikely), the depth at each position will allow Keith to stay competitive for a bye week in the first round of the playoffs. You have to give Keith credit he never doubted his draft and now he's at the top!
3. Sideliners (Last Week 2)- Steve's team didn't show up, but this also had a lot to do with the NFC North bye week schedule. Look for Steve to get on track this week, but he'll have his work cut out for him as he's facing a surging RW Throws A Sexy Deep Ball that hopes to build on their win against Shayne.
4. The Fear Boners (Last Week 4)- My RBs were nothing short of spectacular, but my QBs continue to keep my match ups far from being decided early. Hopefully RGIII get's things in order during his Bye week or it may be a disappointing end to a fantastic start this season.
5. Oh That's Nasty (Last Week 7)- Dawson keeps grinding out the wins and his team looks a lot like the BISPS and Fantuz Flakes teams I was alluding to earlier in the introductory paragraph. If Dawson grabs a playoff spot he may turn some heads.
6. NINERS (Last Week 5)- After watching the point avalanche that happened between Brady and Manning, I was lucky to squeak out a win against Stan. Stan's team is another one I'd be worried about if they get a final playoff spot because they have the potential to have a huge week. If he puts a couple of those together and a jersey is his come January.
7. The Aaron "Primetime" Clappertons (Last Week 6)- Aaron lost a close one that he could have been competitive in if he had paid attention to his flex. Rivers had a down week, but I think this could be something that motivates him to put up insane points going forward. Time will tell.
8. RW Throws A Sexy Deep Ball (Last Week 9)- Andrew won this week in convincing fashion. It's good to see him start getting wins, however his WR situation is going to be a hard decision each week due to the depth of skilled players. That's not the worst "problem" to have, so things are looking up!
9. BISP (Last Week 8)- Mike kept things competitive this week, but even Eli was no match for Luck's dominance at the QB position. Mike's not completely out of it, but now he truly does need to win out to give him a chance at his coveted Sam Bradford Rams jersey.
10. What Are The Chances (Last Week 10)- Curt got a win, despite his ballsy play to understand that even an inactive Romo was a safer idea then a healthy Brandon Weedon. I jest, but Curt was able to take advantage of Steve's bye week blues and get that second win I was mentioning last week.
I know that there are some high profile WRs that Shane is wanting to part with if the price is right and Steve is looking to deal Cooks. So, if someone wants to make me a sad panda, make him an offer (I think he's looking for RB depth).
Take it easy fellas and enjoy the last four to seven weeks!
