Power Powell Rankings: Week 2
Week one, said and done. The league has been turned on its collective head. Up is down, left is right and Aaron has a winning record. I'll let Keith go a little more in depth into each of the match-ups, but I will need to make a few broad strokes in order to explain the risers and followers. So...
1. The Keith-glorious Basterds (Last Week 1): Keith holds on to the top spot as he had the highest points scored total in the league last week and despite Calvin Johnson's last minute heroics, Eddy Lacy's ineffectiveness and the disappearing act (read: Cate Blanchett) Zac Stacy pulled; his QBs gave him a humongous advantage in points. It will take a few more weeks to see the stat trends, but it looks like Keith's bid for a repeat title is off to a glowing start.
2. Oh That's Nasty (Last Week 7): The highest riser of the week. Dawson's team surprised by a career day from Matty "Ice" and the sophomore slump trumper Le'Veon Bell. These guys were seen as slightly better then average at the position, but they were instrumental in a victory over Stan.
3. Sideliners (Last Week 4): Steve's team may not have put up the highest score total of the week, but Julius Thomas had enough points to hand Andrew his first defeat of the season. The scary part of his team is that Charles only had three points and Steve could still pull out a win.
4. The Fear Boners (Last Week 6): My team looked solid in the boxscore, but if you watched any of the Arizona/San Diego game you would understand the cold chill travelling up my spine from both my QB's ability to play.
5. Aaron "Primetime" Clapperton (Last Week 9): A win is a win is a win. Even if it's against the worst ranked team that also is still carrying a NFL suspended indefinitely player on his roster. Chris Johnson and Greg Olsen had inflated point totals from last year's averages and it will be interesting to see if those gambles will pay off further into the season.
6. NINERS (Last Week 2): Stan and Dawson's matchup was the closest of the week and without the five point bonus awarded to Matt Ryan for passing over four hundred yards Stan would have won. I'm not worried about his team this season any more then I am about the Saints' Super Bowl chances.
7. Russell Wilson Throws a Sexy Deep Ball (Last Week 3): Likewise, Andrew's team was just on the receiving end of a late game, tight end curveball. It happens to the best I wouldn't be surprised if Andrew takes back the three spot next week.
8. NFL Owner (Last Week 5): Shayne's team only suffered from Aaron Rogers' trip to Seattle. It was the difference between winning and losing. However if enough tough player match-ups turn into enough tough fantasy team loses for Shayne this could be a season to forget despite the talent on his roster.
9. What Are the Chances (Last Week 8): Curt had a good week, however not knowing fully the status of Andre Ellington caused a little confusion in his roster. Good things are certainly within his grasp though as his points total exceeded two match-up winers and Andrew's well rounded team. He could be a dark horse come playoff time.
10. BISP (Last Week 10): Poop. Poop, Poop, Poop.
There you have it folks stay tuned next week for another update to the Power Powell Rankings of TFLOEG!

I get that power rankings are totally arbitrary, but I'm really surprised by this week. It certainly isn't the way I would have ranked them, but then again maybe I'm just taking a longer term picture after one week than you are.
ReplyDeleteDawson had an impressive week, but had to rely too much on Matty Ice and Bell. He has big holes at RB2 and Flex that he needs to fill. Andrew didn't get a single touchdown from his position players, that won't happen too often and should rank him higher. Every time I thought I was safe, Shayne kept making it close.
The ranking I disagree with most is Curtis. There's no way he deserves to go down after his performance. He was a Knowshon Moreno away from beating you, and I'm expecting big things from Curt's team this year.
I'm worried about Steve's team. Ya it was a bad game for Charles, but KC might be really bad this year. I would be worried about his RB situation, and this is coming from a guy whose #1 back got a concussion, and #2 back looks to be on the worst offense in the league.
Win/loss ratio is the first measurement as it is the first way to determine playoff teams. Then I move on to personal preference of player performance against personnel policy.
