From The Desk Of The Commisioner

Good Evening Fellas,

Another week, another pitiful performance by team. Let this be a lesson in making sure you have at least three "sure things" on your weekly rosters. I have one and a bunch of under preforming, upside potential pariahs. At the draft I saw guys like Spiller, Hilton and Luck being the new McCoy, Wayne or Rodgers based on their skill sets. It's another case of mistaken identity if you ask me. After a loss to Aaron, anyone should have to look themselves in the mirror and ask "What the hell is wrong with me? I lost to Aaron. Aaron. AARON!!!!"

Mistaken identity is a subject I rarely have to deal with, as I can typically get a good read on people (or at least I think I do). But, after the loss to Aaron of all people, I learned this week that I don't even have that great of a read on myself. And this fact was compounded by a cluster of other similar lessons thus forming a mountain out of the ol' mole hill. Hell, it even permeated my film viewing this week. You see, when I was revisiting the original Star Wars trilogy on 1080p and 5.1 surround glory (it was like seeing them for the first time Gents you should come over and nerd out with me!) I had a bit of a shock. Through out my life I've always had a predictable choice as the cypher character that correlates in personality (Hint: He's the badass one with the heart of gold). You can imagine my surprise when, while watching this time, I realized that this is simply not true (well it may have been in my golden years; exploring the world with hoes in different area codes and an adventurous attitude to boot), but I was wrong. This time I found myself empathizing with a different character. Now I'm not going to say who (I'll let you guys guess in the comments), but it was quite a shock. I'm actually pretty cool with it all in all. I'm just not a Han Solo kinda-guy anymore I guess.

As Blink 182 once said "well I guess this is growing up!" Hopefully T.Y. and C.J. grow up to become the people I drafted this week, as they have tremendous opportunity going into the next half of the season.

Until Next Week,

Good Luck Chumps.

  1. My first thought was C-3PO, because he is always looking out for other people and that ties in to your maternal instinct. You're not enough of a whiner or worrier to fit into that category however, so I think I have to discount it.

My second thought is Chewbacca. He has the same type of instinct that means he is loyal and always looking out for others, without being so annoying. He's a strong possibility.

My last thought is that you now relate more to Obi-Wan Kenobi, the wise old sage who looks out for and passes on his wisdom to his students, only to find himself cut down in battle with a Sith Lord.

I think Obi-Wan correlates nicely with your fantasy season. Andrew is Luke, Aaron is Darth Vader, and these blog posts are you bringing wisdom from the dead. Or maybe Andrew is Anakin Skywalker, who has gone mad with power after being your apprentice, and Steve is Luke, your new student and only hope to defeat the Empire.

  2. Good thoughts. One of your answers is right.

  3. That means that Steve is my son.

I felt the same way when I lost to Aaron.
