WhiteKnuckler Ramblings Part 2
Now that we are at the cusp of the start to the third week of pre-season football, there is a lot to talk about.
First off, how about the fact that Timothy Richard Tebow (yes I went government on him) has had more snaps under center than the future first round draft pick of Stan or Aarons, Colin Kaepernick. The scarier part is that Timothy Richard Tebow (to be further referred to as TRT) has more passing yards than Kaepernick. This either speaks highly of the offence that the Patriots run, that even TRT can produce, or that the 49ers feel it is more important to figure out who is going to be the number 2 behind Kaepernick then to give a guy who hasn't started a full season much needed pre-season game time. With Kaepernicks favorite option, Crabtree, out for the start of the season it would be nice to see Kaepernick develop a repertoire with some of the new receivers brought into the mix. Just kidding, I could care less about the 49ers as a whole. It will be nice to see them look dysfunctional out on the field for the first few weeks before Kaepernick gets ruined out in the open field when a defensive back, being scared of getting fined (just ask Texans D.J. Swearinger), tackles Kaepernick and everything goes horribly wrong (or in my eyes horribly right).
Second, how about them Cleveland Browns!? I think Dawson has seen this coming from a long way off as he has been rocking the Cleveland Brown team logo for the past 2 seasons. Weeden finally doesn't look terrified and ready to fill the Depends that we all assume he must be wearing at his age when he has the ball in his hands. I still won't want him on my team for the fact that he was once drafted by the Yankees. Jordan Cameron has come from no where to open at least one of my eyes as a possible TE to pick up during bye weeks or when the Browns have a soft match-up. As everyone knows, my TE position will once again be filled by the disappointment that is Jermichael Finley. I'm looking at Josh Gordon to produce too with this new found composure by Weeden. T-Rich should put up numbers again.
Third, all the quarterback battles have been about as exciting as a album by The Neighborhood. I don't know why anyone would think that in a Chip Kelly offence that Nick Foles would be a better fit than Michael Vick. Foles looks similar to the uncle in Napolean Dynamite when he throws the ball. The Jets quarterback battle, ahem, pillow fight, just shows how many problems the team has as a whole. If Mark, the headband, Sanchez hurts his chances by actually playing in a game where Geno Smith betters his chances while siting on the bench, we all better look at this offensive force blowing in from the AFC East. NOT. Like John I will not comment on the Jaguars QBs, not just because there is nothing to talk about but, because I don't like looking at those helmets. E.J. Manuel or Kevin Kolb? One was drafted to be the face of the franchise for the for-see able future and the other has been bouncing around the league just looking for a field to set up camp on. It looks like the Bills saw how well teams did last year with rookie and second year QBs and thought, "Hey, we can draft one of those too!" No, no you cannot Buffalo. Go back to being know for Buffalo wings and trading away Beast Mode.
Fourth, Reggie Bush. That is all.
Fifth, we really need to add punters to our fantasy line ups. I can't be the only one in this league that gets a half chub when John Ryan takes the field.
That seems like enough for now.
To the cloud!

With authority. If you do draft Cameron, you might just get somewhere, like upwards in wins.
ReplyDeleteI think you're being a little hard on one guy in this article and I'll prove it by drafting him late.
I'll look into if punters in fantasy is a real thing.
that's a no go on punters or individual kick returners.
ReplyDeleteI like the Browns a little less now that Phil Dawson is a 49er (boourns!).
ReplyDeleteBut they're still fairly awesome.
These are some solid ramblings right here.
ReplyDeleteJohn takes EJ Manuel in the 15th round? Interesting.
John Ryan is the 2nd greatest CFL to NFL import in recent years, narrowly being beaten out by All Star Cameron Wake. If you can punt in Winnipeg, you can punt anywhere.
I am 99% certain that the first time I ever played fantasy football, back on the Sandbox Sports website during Mr. Korte's Comm Tech class, having individual punters was an option. Shayne likely knows what's up, as he loved that site more than anyone.
I would have to throw another Seahawk in the conversation of CFL to NFL imports. Brandon "106yd fumble return touchdown" Browner. 14th round for that pick of Johns, rounds 15 and 16 are already booked for a kicker and a defense.
ReplyDeleteBrowner is certainly in the conversation with those 2. Hasn't been quite as good as Wake yet, but I couldn't think of anyone else above him.
ReplyDeleteDepending on where you draft, I could see John taking a Defense one round earlier to get the one he wanted, although you're probably correct.
EJ Manuel is not a one hundred percent starter, but better then I expected. He's not the one I love on this list though. When you've got sleepers as deep as me, I may take the Def I want in 10th, kicker 11th. Just to ball out.
ReplyDeleteNow that is a profile picture!
