Two A Days: SuperHawks and Gold Diggers
San Francisco 49ers
Quarterback-
Colin Kaeperknick (Nevada) - He show'd a lot of promise last season but do not expect that to continue this season. He has a very risky style. Gives up on the pass too quickly in the play and relies on his legs too much which leaves him open for taking big hits. Look for him to put up numbers while he is healthy but don't be surprised if he gets injured.
Running Backs-
Frank Gore (University of Miami-Florida) - Gore has been golden the fast 3 years putting up solid numbers every season but don't expect the same this year. Gore has hit the running back killing age of 30 and with plenty of young runners coming up through the team, look at his touches to drop. His style still shows he could vulture goal line touchdowns though.
Kendall Hunter (Oklahoma State) - Solid runner but in a team that will rush by committee, don't expect him to put up consistent numbers on a weekly basis. His return yards also don't count.
LaMichael James (Oregon) - See above.
Wide Receivers-
Anquan Boldin (Florida Sate) - Coming off a Super Bowl win Anquan has already accomplished much in his career. Moving into a new offence could slow down his production but with having Crabtree out for the majority of the season this moves Boldin to the top of the depth chart. Boldin is also the deep threat so his numbers will come in bunches but will lack in stability in which you will want in your number 2 receiver.
Mario Manningham (Michigan) - He will start the season on the PUP list. Possible late waiver wire pick up.
Michael Crabtree (Texas Tech.) - Coming off an off-season Achilles tear, Crabtree will start the season on the sideline.
Tight Ends-
Vernon Davis (Maryland) - One of the only tight ends that will be fought over in the draft. Reports state that the connection with Kaeperknick in practice is "seemingly unstoppable". Let's see if this translates to a game situation. The most solid draft pick on the team.
Seattle Seahawks
Quarterback-
Russel Wilson (Wisconsin) - Came out of the gates slow in his rookie season but finished atop the QB ratings for the final 8 games. Also posted the highest QB rating in the league for home games. Tied Peyton Mannings rookie record with 26 touchdowns and only threw 10 interceptions (none at home). One of the most mobile QBs in the league with an incredible ability to make broken plays turn into huge gains. Don't expect a sophomoric slump here as he has all the same weapons around him.
Running Back-
Marshawn Lynch (California) - Two words - Beast Mode. Expect nothing else out of this bruising running back in the coming season. With the offence still centered around the run, you can expect Lynch to get a lot of carries. While being a power, up the middle back, he does have the ability to post the leagues highest yards after contact. If you forgot what yards after contact looks like, click here.
Robert Turbin (Utah State) - Another bruising runner. Won't get many touches outside of short yardage plays.
Christine Michael (Texas A&M) - Rookie running back who has the ability to make a big play won't be anywhere near a every down back. Safe to stay away from at this time.
Wide Receivers-
Percy Harvin (Florida) - Big name off-season pick-up. Has incredible play making abilities. Currently recovering from surgery. Straight waiver wire pick.
Sidney Rice (South Carolina) - Back from Switzerland to have a knee treatment. Number one target that will draw the number one defender. Field stretching ability.
Golden Tate (Notre Dame) - Should be able to break out this season. Had big plays last year and should be one of Wilsons favourite targets this year.
Tight Ends-
Anthony McCoy (USC) - Seattle doesn't utilize the tight end in the pass. Skip over all tight ends unless something changes during the season.
Zach Miller (Arizona) - See above.
Defence-
One of the scariest units in the league and one of the few that you can feel at ease to start on a weekly basis. Could set fantasy records for a defence this year.

Andrew taking the opportunity to praise his team and rip his rival....I like it, although it does bring the objectivity of the preview into question.
ReplyDeleteCorrection: Russell threw one interception at home. Just happened to be of the game winning variety.
